Steve was very helpful and attentive - from check-in to check-out. The room was very nice, with beautiful antiques. The shower was digitally controlled, and the largest we've had so far.

What is a Guest House?
A Guest House is a larger ‘Bed and Breakfast’ typically offering included in the room rate but not licensed to serve alcoholic beverages. Frequently Guest Houses are family run and therefore have limited staff, so check-in is limited certain hours unlike Hotels which maintain a staff presence 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

When can I check-in?
Our check-in is anytime between 10am and 9pm. We guarantee that all rooms are ready by 2pm. We prepare the rooms in order of guests arrival time, by informing us of your arrival time we will endeavor to have your room ready if your arrival is before 2pm.

Early Arrival (before 10am)

Unfortunately we cannot have guests arriving earlier than 10am in the morning as the staff are busy serving breakfast and the guest house is not large enough to accommodate more than the guests we have in the morning prior to check out. We understand that many of you will be traveling late in the night/early in the morning and would like to get settled in as soon as possible, but in order to keep the home-like environment and personalize service for everyone, we ask that you not arrive until 10am to drop off bags.

If you are coming into Glasgow International Airport – Immigrations is not a long affair as it is in many airports and we only are 20minute taxi or 45 minute by bus. There are a number of nice coffee shops after you clear baggage claim, which you can pick up breakfast or a hot beverage and relax for a wee bit until closer to 10am.

If you do happen to arrive early in the Kelvingrove area here are a few cafes we can recommend:

Beanscene - 1365 Argyle Street, G3 8AF
(opposite the Kelvingrove Art Museum & Gallery, which also has a very good coffee shop)

OR

SugarQube - 1082 Argyle St, G3 8LY

Late Arrivals (after 9pm)

We do like guests to arrive before 9.00pm, due to the noise element of checking in guests and showing them to rooms, which can disturb other guests who may be resting.

We also have a VERY loud antique Victorian front pull doorbell, so if you do arrange a late arrival we request that you call the guesthouse telephone (0141 339 2395), so we can avoid this possible disturbance. We very much appreciate it and thank you for your kind understanding.

Do you have a waiting list?
If you really want to stay, I can put a note in the diary and contact you if a space/slot is created for you to stay. If you wish us to do this please let us know by return mail. About 70% of people who go onto the waiting list get a room.

Are all taxes included?
Yes, all taxes are included in the price of the room per night.

Parking?
There is on-street parking just in front of the Guest House/ Kelvingrove Park, which is free from 6pm on Fridays to 8am on Mondays. Then during the week, there is a charge from 8am to 6pm - it costs 10p for the first 1/2 Hour, then 10 pence for every half hour after that (= £1.60 for 3 hours). Then free from 6pm to 8am the next morning. We also have Visitors Parking Permits, which cost £2 for 8am till 2pm or 12noon till 6pm (effectively £4 for the whole day)

How do the shared facilities work?
The shared facilities comprise of a full modern bathroom (bathtub/shower, sink & toilet), a separate water closet (toilet) and separate shower room plus there is a full bathroom on the main floor. These facilities are shared among two single rooms and three double rooms. All facilities are thoroughly cleaned everyday. The facilities are first come first served, but due to people’s different schedules it is very infrequent that guests can't get in when they want.

Are the rooms quiet?
The guesthouse is situated on a side street right next to the Kelvingrove Park, one of the quietest places in Glasgow. The kitchen and common areas are all on the main floor, with the majority of guesthouse’s bedrooms at ground level. In the evenings, after 9pm, we dim the hall lights so that people will remember to come in quietly - even with this precaution we cannot guarantee that throughout the day you will not hear the noise of other guests coming and going.

Do we allow pets??
We used to allow pets, but unfortunately due to a number of times when guests have arrived and had allergies, we now no longer accept pets. We are pet friendly but from a business point of view we can’t allow pets in the rooms.

Are there close places to eat?
There are some of the best places to eat in Glasgow just a short walk from the Alamo. Check out our Wining & Dining section of our website.
